The Vallejo AFV series consists of a comprehensive collection of color sets designed to assist the modeler in all steps of painting the models of armored and combat vehicles. The colors have been carefully developed to allow for a faithful reproduction of the historical shades of the colors used, following the norms, military nomenclatures and operational background. In the design of some of these sets we have been assisted by historical and military specialists adjoined to museums and historical societies.

    Russian Greens (1928’s to Present)

Set of 8 Model Air colors which include all the shades of green used for base colors and camouflage patterns. From the beginning in the twenties of the mechanization of the army of the Soviet Union, including tanks and light and heavy vehicles, camouflage patterns (on occasion extremely elaborate) were considered, and shades of green were employed as a standard base color. The evolution of these colors has not caused great changes, but rather more of a constant expansion, beginning with the primitive 3K and 4BO up to the colors used in modern conflicts. The climate and the geography determined the selection of the colors most used in that period.

    Content:

For the colors of this set we have been assisted by the expert Mike Starmer, whose work is well known by modelers and historians.

Middle East Wars (1967’s to Present)

Set of 8 Model Air colors, including a selection of camouflage colors used for vehicles and tanks in the Yom Kippur War and other Middle East conflicts. The vast majority of armored material and vehicles deployed by Egypt and Syria were of URSS origin, and were received in their original dark green color. On this original green a new base tone was repainted in sand color, with the application of camouflage patterns appropriate to the context and combat conditions: sand tones combined with dark spots with contrasting hard edges which broke the silhouette of the vehicle. These patterns generally included two or three tones on the base sand color, which presented some variations.

    Content:
    71.017 Russian Green 4BO
    71.020 Green Brown
    71.028 Sand Yellow
    71.037 Mud Brown
    71.041 Armour Brown
